Kid's Programming Language (KPL) is based on basic, but targeted at "kids". It can used as an alternative to using QBasic first before learning Visual Basic or C++, considering that QBasic is now no longer "supported".
There is no need to use APIs or even visual forms in KPL (I suspect its very much like QBasic, but much better).
